HACSU delegates have been advocating for months around greater flexibility in use of Flexitime in Nutrition and Dietetics at the Royal Hobart Hospital. This comes after members reported that they have only been able to use Flexitime to attend appointments, rather than half-days or full days off if they had the appropriate accrual.
The Department has now confirmed that: ‘Flexitime can be taken in any amount up to the staff member’s balance (including approved deficit), and at any time if operational requirements are met’.
The guidelines also make clear that administrative staff are entitled to access Flexitime after we raised concerns about this.
While these new guidelines will not make it so every request to use Flexitime is approved, it should make it easier to use it the way that you want to.
Our challenge is now making sure that we’re holding the Department to account to play by the rules, so please ensure that you keep in touch to let us know if you’re still having issues.
