Your collective action is forcing their hand and we’ve finally seen movement from the Department in writing!
Since our last bulletin to you on Friday, the Department met with us this morning and have put forward their draft interim agreement with the inclusion of all exposed Youth Justice and Child Safety workers for personal impact days.
It should never have taken this long or had to come to you taking action for us to see everyone included in these conditions. They chose to divide the workforce but with your solidarity and courage, you’ve forced them to provide the same entitlements to all.
We have provided the Department with feedback on some technical points of the draft and will update you as soon as they come back to us with their revised version.
They have also committed to have the draft Statement of Duties for Support Workers to us tomorrow and we will be meeting to discuss this on Monday with them, along with some of your delegates.
We’ll update you as soon as we get further information about either of these issues from the Department. However, we also made it clear to them that they need to set a timetable of when we will be sitting down to commence negotiations on the broader Child Safety and Youth Justice Agreement.
