The vote for Regis’s proposed agreement will open at 6am on Thursday 21 December and close at 3pm on Friday 22 December.
Regis is attempting to rush this through, providing you with less than two days to cast your vote. Their motive is transparent – by limiting the time frame, they hope to slip this detrimental agreement past us, exploiting workers and padding their own pockets.
So please make sure you vote, and Vote NO.
Your vote is confidential and your employer won’t know what you voted.
Make no mistake, Regis’s offer is one of the worst we’ve ever seen in aged care. If accepted, you will be subjected to:
• A paltry 2% wage increase for care workers, general staff and Ens for 2023 and 2024
• Zero backpay since January 2021
• Demand for doctor’s certificate if you’re sick on a Monday or Friday
• No meal break allowances
• A dodgy morning shift at 10% penalty, possibly negating 15% afternoon penalty
• Overtime only after working 10 hours in a day rather than 8
Ridiculously, some of the claims Regis made about what they’re offering are merely what is mandated by the Fair Work Commission. For instance, they have to provide you with 10 days of paid Family and Domestic Violence Leave, a 250% public holiday penalty, and pay you superannuation for any paid hours. They can’t change your salary packaging allowance if it’s already in your contract, but they could potentially contract you for even fewer hours by scraping the 16-hour minimum contract!
These claims just show how bad their offer is, so they’re desperate to gloss over it.
Regis are trying to bribe you by offering you a bonus payment, but don't be fooled. While the extra money may provide temporary relief, it’s less than the backpay you would be entitled to. It's deplorable to offer a one-off bonus while coercing you to accept a slew of unfair conditions.
You deserve much better than this!
Vote NO and let’s send a clear message to Regis that their corporate greed must stop.
We will utilise our collective power and force Regis to do better after this agreement is rightfully voted down. We can win if we all stand strong together.
Please also encourage your colleagues to Vote NO and join our fight for better pay and conditions for workers.
