Regis have told us that they are ready to put your Home Care Agreement out to vote. The access period starts 9 September, with voting opening at 6am Tuesday 17 September and closing at 7pm Wednesday 18 September.
While there are some good improvements in the agreement (see below), there are some serious red flags for wages:
First, the 3% wage increase for this year is well below the 5% your residential colleagues secured because they had the strength to vote “no” twice to Regis’s lower wage offers.
Second, we have major doubts about Regis even delivering the 3% increase in 2025. When we asked them to put words in the agreement confirming that the 3% would be applied on top of the aged care work value funded increases, they refused to do so. Trusting Regis to just do the right thing is like trusting a predator to be nice to its prey.
Here are some of the improvements HACSU has secured for you:
• Lump sum payment to compensate you for no backpay
• Public holiday increased to double time and a half
• Sunday increased to double time
• Travel allowance 99c per kilometre
• 20 days paid family and domestic violence leave
• Sleepover allowance increased to $110 – with one 30-minute interruption
• Rosters provided 14 days in advance
Given Regis’s “buyer beware” attitude, you may consider that voting “no” is the best move. However, it is your agreement, and you get the final say on what you want your wages and conditions to look like for the next 2 years. So, make sure you take the time and have your say.
