Mosaic: do you know your entitlement to paid parental leave?

We have recently been asked what entitlements employees have to paid parental leave under the Mosaic Agreement. From discussions we have had, it appears Mosaic have not always been following your Enterprise Agreement clause and informing employees they are only entitled to 1 week for paternity leave.

Your Agreement clearly states if you have been a permanent full-time or part-time employee for a minimum of 12 months, you are entitled to 4 weeks of paid parental leave in accordance with the Mosaic parental leave policy. This leave will be paid at your base rate for your ordinary hours that would have been worked in that period.

However, Mosaic’s policy stipulates in the instance of paternity leave, you must be taking on the principle role of providing care for the child. This means you will be the parent assuming the main role of caring for the child.
