What are my rights around professional development?

Posted on 2 April, 2024 in Allied Health Professionals

Your latest Allied Health Professionals Agreement contains an entitlement to a professional development fund so that you can continue to train up on the job.

Conditions like these are hard-fought for by union members like yourself and it is important to know exactly what your rights are. Here’s what you need to know:

- AHPs are entitled to $1000 per annum for PD
- You can accumulate unspent annual PD entitlements for a maximum of 5 years
- When approved, costs associated with PD will be paid by the employer: including reasonable travel, accommodation and meals
- Your attendance at approved professional development is counted as being on the job

If you have any questions about accessing PD, you can get in touch with us via HACSUassist.

For more information about this or any other industrial matter, members should contact HACSUassist on 1300 880 032 or email [email protected] or complete our online contact form
