Barrington Lodge Agreement will go out for vote soon

Aged Care

We’ve completed bargaining for the Barrington Lodge Nurses Agreement and it will soon be put out to vote.

The access period (when you can have a look at the proposed Agreement) will be from 25 July until 1 August and then you’ll be able to vote from 2 August to 9 August.

While we’ve scored some wins with improved conditions and entitlements, it is disappointing that management refused to increase personal leave to 20 days (which is common practice in most aged care facilities in Tasmania) and refused to pay paid meal breaks for new staff.

If you need a reminder, here are the improved conditions for nurses in the new Agreement:

• 2-year Agreement
• 3% wage increase per year
• 3% increase to allowances
• Backpay from 1 July 2023
• $500 sign-on bonus once Agreement is approved
• 3 days paid delegate leave
• EN preceptor allowance
• Minimum engagement increase to 3 hours
• 10 days paid family and domestic violence leave
• 12 weeks paid parental leave & 2 weeks for partner
• RN in charge allowance increased to $40

It is your Agreement, and you get the final say on what you want your wages and conditions to look like for the next 2 years. So, make sure you take the time to vote for what’s best for you.
