Statement to be attributed to HACSU State Secretary Robbie Moore:
"As a result of union members’ actions on Parliament Lawns
yesterday, the Department has now invited us to a meeting tomorrow morning around the Child Safety and Youth Justice Agreement.
We are glad that the Department has listened, but we need the Minister for Children and Youth to wake up and make a commitment to be at the table.
We have met with senior bureaucrats previously, but it is a somewhat fruitless exercise because they don't hold the power to make decisions.
We are demanding that Roger Jaensch, as the Minister that has failed Tasmanian children, come to the table and show he is actually genuine about trying to protect Tasmanian children and resolving workers’ concerns.
We need Roger Jaensch at the table, or if he’s not up to it, the Premier."
