Hobart Clinic nurses' backpay on the way

A few Hobart Clinic nurses have been in touch with us about how your Agreement registration is coming along.

Some of you may already know, but for those who don’t, there’s a registration process that every Agreement in the private sector goes through after it’s been voted up.

This process revolves around the Agreement going through the Fair Work Commission for approval, which means that any last-minute wording or drafting updates can be made and that the Commission runs its eyes over the final copy of the Agreement to make sure you’re ‘better off overall’ before they give it the seal of approval.

This process usually takes a few weeks, and we’ll keep you in the loop once we hear from the Commission it’s been approved. After this, backpay is normally paid into your account in the first full pay period after the approval of the Agreement.

While we know the Agreement wasn’t perfect there were some huge gains in there, particularly for lower paid nurses, and together we got them to move.
