The new Able agreement has passed Fair Work and is now in place.

This means Able workers are guaranteed a 3% wage increase, or Fair Work increase whichever is the highest – this year you will receive the Fair Work increase as it was higher.

Other improved conditions include:

• Sleepover allowance – increased to $90 Monday to Thursday and $110 Friday, Saturday and Sunday and will increase by at least 3% or Fair Work Increase each year

• 20 days paid domestic violence leave

• 5 days paid leave for employees experiencing reproductive health matters for the purpose of attending and recovering from specialty appointments and treatments, and the availability of flexible work arrangements for those experiencing reproductive health matter

• 5 days of paid pregnancy loss leave for an employee and their partner if the pregnancy ends between 1 and 10 weeks

• 10 days of paid pregnancy loss leave if the pregnancy ends between 10 weeks and 19 weeks and 6 days

• New clause around safe staffing and workloads

Able also had to make several undertakings that will ensure that if at any time during the life of the agreement an employee receives less under this agreement than they would otherwise receive under the National Employment Standards (NES), the NES standards will apply.

Well done on standing together and achieve this result. Stay united and don’t forget the more members we have, the better outcome we can achieve for workers.
