15% is just the start

We're still fighting for a 25% pay rise for all aged care workers!

Aged care workers deserve a pay rise

That’s why HACSU members are fighting for a 25% wage increase for everyone. HACSU started our Work Value Case because all aged care workers have been undervalued for too long.

While we’ve already won a 15% interim increase for many aged care workers, there’s still more to do.

We need to keep fighting for the full 25% pay rise for everyone.

And we need to make sure no one gets left behind.

That’s why we’ve argued that the 15% increase for some workers just isn’t enough – but we need you to get involved, too.

You can help win a pay rise for every aged care worker by sharing your experience of working in aged care and showing your support for the work of all the cleaners, admin, kitchen and laundry staff who keep the facility running.

How can I help?

Every job is important. So every aged care worker deserves a pay rise.

In our Work Value Case, it’s stories like yours that make the difference.

Join our campaign for a 25% pay rise for all by telling your story and making a witness statement in the HACSU Work Value Case.

We’ll support anyone who wants to get involved, so please let us know if you want to share your experience and be part of making change in aged care.

“My work in aged care involves food service, cleaning and laundry. We’re a crucial part of aged care. With the current 15% pay rise only going to direct care staff, we’re feeling that we’re not appreciated and we don’t matter. A full 25% for all aged care workers will mean a lot to us - that will make us actually want to come to work.”

“I work in aged care as a cleaner. I’ve been working in this role for 16 years. We’re employed as a team, we work as a team, so we should be paid as a team. The facility cannot run without us doing cleaning and laundry for residents. We do very good work to keep the place running. We also have really close contact with all the residents!”

— Alice

“As one of the service employees, I believe we should be equal with other staff members. We're all here doing the same hard work and we deserve to be respected for that. I'd like to retire knowing that my over 20 years of work in aged care was worth something, not that I wasn't worth anything in the government's eyes.”
